Happy Monday Friends and Family!!
We had a great weekend, welcoming in Spring and enjoying all the great sunshine. The kiddos had so much fun outside. R loves to be outside and loves getting dirty and exploring. I love watching her play and explore. The joy on her face.
Also, I received the news I am a certified Marathon Coach from NAASFP (North American Academy For Sports Fitness Professionals). It was a fun program and a longer certification than the RRCA. It takes a few months, but you get to work with an actual client and create a plan for them to finish a race. I loved that part. My client finished their plan and race, and I passed the four sections. So if you need a running coach, I am here for ya 😉
Yesterday Marc and participated in a 5 mile race. Marc did the 3 mile and ended up taking first place. I haven’t had the best year so far in racing for a variety of reasons, and got off on the wrong foot again on Sunday morning, literally. One mile into the race I fell into a pot hole and sprained my ankle. It hurt so bad for about 1/2 a mile, and then I didn’t even notice it, maybe I wasn’t paying attention anymore. I may have said a curse word it hurt so bad. I was so embarrassed, I couldn’t believe I didn’t see it. I was glad I didn’t fall.
After that I couldn’t quite catch the first place female, who wasn’t running at a fast clip, or at least for my PR. I kept trying to catch her, but she ended up beating me by 6 seconds. I did get closer at the end. It stunk, especially since it was such a slow race for me. I did manage a 6:36 pace average. It’s safe to say I didn’t feel the best during the race.
Half way into the race I already felt beat and was done. I would slowly inch towards the lead women, and then it’s like she would inch further away. I did close the gap, just not enough. Some days are just not the perfect race days.
I just couldn’t move any faster. After the race I went into a cool down immediately and then once I stopped running, the pain was excruciating in my ankle. I couldn’t put any pressure on it and was limping around. I felt stupid. It started to bruise right away, and I was lucky enough to get some ice from the First Aid tent.
I did manage second overall and first in my age group. Afterwards, Marc and I enjoyed our little ray of sunshine. My favorite face to see after a race. Thankful my sister watched her for us. We let her enjoy some time outside, and of course she loved it. She then spent the night pretending to limp around like me. She copies everything I do, and at first I couldn’t understand what she was doing, but then I figured it out. She was trying to walk like me. It was hilarious. Every where I went, here came my little minime, limping behind me.
Now I am trying to decide how much time I need off from running. I have a half marathon in a month, so of course I don’t want to stop running. Learning to love rest.
Hope you all enjoyed a great weekend!!
Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit

Oh no! Dealing with disappointment and set backs will truly make you a better runner. I am currently dealing with a shin issue that is slowing up my running training this spring, so I feel you, sister.
Bry says
Yes they will Jessica. I am sorry to hear about your shin issue, and I hope it gets better soon!

I want to know more about you being a run coach! I am signing up for a half in May 2017 and am at a complete loss where to start training.
