This is my same recipe for pumpkin pie smoothies, but with some Barleans Chocolate Greens. It’s for all those health conscious who want a nutritional boost with a great taste. Kids won’t even taste the greens, which makes it that much more great. One of those fall classic flavors. It is really like dessert in a glass. (Scroll down to find another chocolate smoothie recipe too)
You don’t just have to enjoy it in the fall either. I love enjoying pumpkin all throughout the winter months. I freeze enough to get me through the dark and dreary, snow packed months. Can I just say we have had way to much snow in the last few days. Keeping up with the shoveling is exhausting. But I am thankful for the moisture. We need it right?! That’s what I keep telling myself. Running has been eventful and adventurous, also a major calorie burn running in the snow!! So much more work now, but it builds a strong base for those spring and summer races. I am just glad it warmed up the past few days, and as I write this is going to be cool down again to subzero temperatures. It’s why I have never been on the global warming page…I won’t go there.
Back to this amazing smoothie. Yes even in the winter I enjoy smoothies and so does R. I now have to always make extra for her, or she’ll just enjoy mine all to herself. Honestly, one of the seasons best flavors is pumpkin and cinnamon. I could eat pumpkin in so many different combinations, and I love it in smoothie form. And you all know how I love chocolate!! Even when it’s a cold fall day, I love pumpkin smoothies. I might try heating it up….or maybe that’s a horrible idea.
This is an old favorite and I am always happy to test it again and again and tweak if need be, but it doesn’t need any tweaking!! Get ready for a creamy, rich taste without any added sugars or high calories.

Chocolate Avocado Smoothie
Because I can’t just stop with one chocolate smoothie. Chocolate is one of the best inventions seriously!! I am very thankful for the cocoa bean!! Although, this recipe uses cacao nibs instead of cocoa. Still good, but a little more nutritious. Cacao nibs are a bit more nutty flavor and bitter, but paired with the right sweetness they give your smoothies a chocolatey flavor, with nutritional value.
Ingredients:
1 frozen banana
1/2 c frozen mango
1/2 avocado
2 cups almond milk
1 Tbsp cacao nibs
2 Tbsp hemp seeds
agave to sweeten, optional
Directions: Add all ingredients to blender and process until smooth. (I added a little agave to Marc’s half, but not to my glass.) Drink up!!
Servings: 2
