Hi friends!!
I hope you had a fun weekend. I am leaving tomorrow for my brother’s wedding and wanted to check in before I do so.
I did a long run on Saturday. I wanted to do 14 miles, and was hoping my Achilles would be up for it. I did the 14 miles and the Achilles felt okay, but was tender afterwards. Once I got back to my sisters house, I realized I was locked out of the apartment. I ran around her little community trying to find her husband, because I knew they were on a walk, and so my 14 mile run turned into a 17 mile run, with I don’t know how many more miles of walking around. I finally found them. I was glad it was cooler outside and I left so early for the run.
After finally showering, my sister, her husband, and my nephew all went raspberry picking at Greenbluffs. Greenbluff is a large community of farmers located just North of Spokane. They have over 40 farms with a variety of different fruits and veggies. It’s kind of like a giant farmers market. Different farms hold festivals throughout the summer/early fall months.
We went to Bodacious Berries (perfect name) to pick our berries. The family loved picking raspberries.
It was a beautiful day for it too.
My nephew couldn’t eat enough of them. He kept stuffing his face.
We had handmade huckleberry ice cream for lunch (they have some cute family-owned cafes up there at some of the farms), which I was thankful my nephew helped me finish, because the small bowl was huge!! I know not the most nutritious lunch, don’t judge 🙂
Sunday Marc and I needed a day to ourselves, so we spent some time at the Coeur d’Alene beach after church and lunch at Bardenay (which is a really great place to eat). It was nice to relax and finally have a day without wedding planning and school work.
We ended our evening with some lemon-lavender ice cream at The Scoop, our favorite local ice cream shop in Spokane.
Hope you had a chill weekend. I will be posting later this week on tips for freezing berries and other fruits to use throughout the year. So don’t be afraid to pick as many raspberries and blackberries as you want!! Soon peaches will be in full season, and those are easy to freeze and have for smoothies or for snacks too.
Happy Fruit Picking!!
