Happy Friday Folks!!
With almost a week until my wedding, I thought I should get some posts on Ragnar CO started before my blog is consumed with wedding posts!!
Team High Nuun did it again!! We got first place in the women’s open ultra division. Okay, so there was only one team, us, but that goes to show that we were the only ones crazy enough to do it. We had an official time of 28:49:10.
Not only did we get first overall, but we beat all the women’s 12 member teams as well, and we placed 3rd overall for all ultra teams. This means we beat lots of all guys and co-ed ultra teams. I have to say team High Nuun surprised me again!!
I have another baton to add to my collection, as well as a double medal which is pretty rocking.
It was so great being a part of team High Nuun again!! We were a truly blessed team with many sponsors (check out the list):
And lots of support from family and friends and our great van driver Nuun Ned.
I am still processing this amazing adventure. I definitely had a Ragover (and if you don’t know what that is, check Vieve’s post, couldn’t have said it better myself). One thing I could have done without was the lack of sleep and the GI issues. But it’s all for the love of running….
I arrived in Denver on the Thursday before the race and met Vieve at the airport. Ned picked us up and we headed to dinner to meet the rest of the team (Rebekah, Lisa, Meghan and Holly). I was greeted with bells and a new outfit (viewed in future posts) to wear during the last leg of the race.
My team made this Ragnar experience so much fun. It was truly another bachelorette party!! I would say it was a grueling, challenging bachelorette party that can’t be replaced (but more on that later). There moments of questioning why I chose to do another ultra relay, why I chose one at elevation and why I chose one 2 weeks before my wedding. But my teammate Holly says it best “Because we want to, Because we know we can, and Because we have fun doing it.” (read why we run ultra here, compliments of Holly)
We began the tradition of decorating the van at some strangers house after dinner. Holly has her ways of finding places for us to stay. Gotta love her!!
We also sorted through the boxes and boxes of sponsored product. Let’s just say we went home properly nourished.
Once again, I was amazed at how much fun relays are and how different it is to run with a team of girls you just love!! How different it is to run with girls who love running as much as you do and are determined and motivated. An ultra relay challenges you in ways you didn’t think possible: mentally, physically, and emotionally. Having 5 amazing women and one amazing van driver, makes all those challenges seem smaller and smaller. You learn true perseverance, you learn you just might not have as many limits as you thought.
Every one of my team members are so great and inspiring. Without all members of the team it wouldn’t have been possible to win it again or simply finish. It’s so fun watching everyone’s personalities and talents. There support helped me through some of my legs, especially those night legs. Words can’t express how thankful and blessed I was to be on team High Nuun again!!
More on our team’s adventures to come
Vieve says
Hope you’ve recouped some. You laid it out there. No holding back, even 2 weeks before your wedding. That’s badass!
But, regardless if you’ve recouped, at least the tan lines are almost gone 😉
