Update on my Running & How I am Giving Back

October 1, 2014 Bryanna

Janji means promise in Malay……”Our promise is to use the power of running to fight the global water crisis…..”

With the baby arriving soon, I have been so consumed with preparing for her and keeping my blog posts all about baby prep, etc., that I have not shared some really exciting news.

At the end of August, I applied to be an ambassador for an amazing and inspiring company. It was a wild shot, but I loved what the company stood for and their mission. I became aware of Janji at the Boston Marathon Expo in April. It was a brief meeting, where I learned about who they were and what they did.

Janji truly is an amazing company. It’s not just about running and running apparel, but running for another. Each piece of clothing you buy gives water and help to someone in another country for an entire year (or more). These countries include Haiti, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Peru & the United States. It’s a way to give back everyday, not just on race day. (more about the founders of Janji here)

They partner with water.org, supplying safe water products for household needs and schools. You can learn more about how they help here.

You definitely need to check them out at their site. There apparel is great too. I love the color and designs, and how great they are for training runs!! Most of all, I know that when I buy their apparel I am helping someone in need not just once but for an entire year. In a sense my run / race never stops. This reminds me that at the end of the day, survival for so many individuals never stops.

So back to my journey of applying for an ambassadorship….after applying I made it to round two of the ambassador process. Then shortly after Labor Day, I received an email saying I was accepted as a RunJanji Ambassador. What’s even more cool is my husband Marc was accepted too. It’s great we can be ambassadors for the same company together, and can begin to instill this same passion, commitment, care and empathy in our little bean.

There’s just under 20 of us ambassadors, so it’s small, but the community is already so close. It’s great being apart of a community of runners with the same passion and mission.

So what does it mean for us, as ambassadors? Well, we are apart of a group of like minded individuals who not only love to run, but want to use their passion to help others. We are the first set of ambassadors too!! We get great gear, and get to share about all the awesome work Janji is doing in other countries. Obviously there’s perks for us, but that’s not whats important. And we get to be apart of a group with an olympic hopeful. How cool is that?!

Marc and I are excited to represent RunJanji and excited to be apart of a community that truly lives out “Run for Another” and the “promise is to use the power of running to fight the global water crisis” Our runs should never end…….

Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit
