Well folks today is the last day of 2014. I started the day with a run, always the best way to start my day. I was one of the run guru’s for Run This Year, and had a goal to run 2014 miles in the year 2014.
So how did I do……
Well I finished the year with just over 2063 miles, 2063.75 miles to be exact. I honestly didn’t think I would have accomplished running 2014 miles after I found out I was pregnant. As the year came closer to ending and my goal was closer and closer to obtaining, I was excited and started to increase my mileage after baby.
I finished the month of December with over 170 miles. Here’s my monthly mileage report from 2014:
- January – 243
- February – 257.37
- March – 253.92
- April – 171.87
- May – 167.87
- June – 186.09
- July – 143.93
- August – 172.31
- September – 146.56
- October – 76.32
- November – 91.94
- December – 172.57
I started the year with some high mileage, and slowly decreased my mileage as my pregnancy progressed. I am surprised with how high it still stayed, especially in August when I was 7 months pregnant.
This was my husbands reply when I was discussing with him how much further I ran than I thought: “Well yeah, that doesn’t surprise me. I lived with you and you were always like ‘Let’s get up and run, we’re wasting day light.’ Actually it didn’t matter if it was day light or night light, you were running.” It made me laugh. The way he said it was hilarious. So apparently I am the Hitler of running. 😉
It was a good year for running. 12 races with baby girl, one race post baby, and a whole lot of miles spent pounding the pavement and doing what I love. The year had it’s challenges, with lots of hills to climb, but every challenge made me a stronger runner and helped my mental and physical endurance.
I did it, over 2014 miles for the year. Each mile I appreciated, and each mile led to new growth. Every year it seems that running has more meaning, and opens up new relationships, taking me to new places.
I can’t wait to see what 2015 has to hold, hopefully some PR’s, and some more relay’s. I plan to add some 50k’s into my race schedule as well. My goals for 2015 include PR’ing in the marathon and 1/2 marathon distance, and running a 50k.
Here’s to a Happy New Year, with good health and many miles!!
Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit
