Yes, Baby R is already 4 months old and boy has she changed. I can’t believe how fast time goes. So here we are ready for another update on Baby R. I think this is one of my favorite stages thus far. All the ooing, cooing, gooing is so fun!!
Baby Girl,
You are already 4 months old. The past month your personality really started to shine. You now love to watch for daddy and mommy and find us in the room. When you are in a unfamiliar place, you make sure daddy or mommy are there too. Sometimes you don’t like to be left in a room without mommy, especially lately.
I love how you are “talking” to dad and I, and even to your cousins. You also love to have conversations with your toys on your floor mat. And before naps, you sometimes sit and coo yourself to sleep. There are times you just want your space, so I put you in your crib and you just talk to yourself until you fall asleep. You must get this from me, because I too like my space. I love listening to you. Every morning when you wake for a quick feeding before going back to bed, you tell me a story and have the biggest grin on your face.
You typically wake up talking to yourself and full of smiles. Our feedings take so much longer now on most occasions, because you love to take lots of breaks to talk to mommy. You have quite the expressions too. Baby girl you have lots to say. You can let mamma know when you aren’t happy with her, especially if you are overly tired. You love your sleep.
Look at those runners legs!!
In fact, you have your last feeding at 7:30 p.m. and are in bed by 8 p.m., sometimes earlier if you are really tired. You typically sleep for 10 hours (so until 5:30 – 7 a.m.) before waking for a short 10-20 minute feeding, and then go back to bed for 2-4 hours more. Mom and dad love that you love to sleep!! It gives me time to run in the morning and dad too before work. You love the blanket touching your face when sleeping, another habit from me, that’s how I sleep too.
Don’t think for a moment you don’t like to take naps either after sleeping so much through the night, because you most certainly do. Sometimes you get quite crabby if you aren’t allowed all the sleep you want. Morning naps are always 50/50 because of my work schedule. Sometimes they get interrupted or skipped. Usually you’ll sleep for 1-2 hours in the morning. You’ll wake for an hour or so, and then take a long afternoon nap of 1 1/2-3 hours. And occasionally you’ll do a cat nap in the later afternoon around 3:30/4 for about 45 minutes – 1 hour. If you were a Disney princess you’d be Sleeping Beauty. 😉
Last week and over the weekend you came down with a horrible cough and were congested, so you weren’t eating as much. I had to pump a lot, but was able to make some baby food for when you’re old enough with the extra milk. Now you are back to eating every 2-4 hours throughout the day, sometimes in the evening it’s hourly. We haven’t tried the bottle again, so still exclusively breastfeeding.
You are more and more curious, so you love to look around. Grocery shopping is fun for you, because there’s so many colors to see and people to watch. You love to sit in your bumbo chair and watch me prepare dinner or you’ll sit in your swing. You are stronger and stronger, and can hold your head up.
We got your door jumper out and you have started to use it. You haven’t quite figured out how to use your legs to bounce up and down. We now have your exersaucer out as well, and you love all the toys on it. You look so small in it though. This was a new addition in the last couple of days. You either sit in your swing or the exersaucer while mom and dad eat dinner, so we can all eat as a family.
We know you love mom and dad because you love staring at us, smiling at us, and talking to us. Daddy loves to make you laugh. You are a bit harder to make laugh, but when you do it’s adorable. I can tell you have your dads sweet nature.
We love all your facial expressions and faces, which you are making more and more of lately. Sometimes you turn all baby model on us when the camera is out.
That’s a mommy face!!
The eyebrow raise inherited from daddy!!
You are definitely pooping less and less. There was one day you didn’t poop at all, but totally made up for it the next day. Oh yes you did. You typically poop 2-4 times throughout the day now, and sadly you aren’t farting as much either. Your aunt still calls you Poopsy though.
Baby R you love to blow bubbles with your drool, and you love to drool. You also make a fake cry sound and a grunting sound when you kind of, sort of want to eat, but actually just want to be held. You’re grabbing at toys and constantly eating your hands and blanket.
You have your 4 month checkup in a couple of weeks, so we’ll see your growth then. I tried measuring you yesterday and you look to be about  25+ inches long. You seem to be thinning out more, and have lost your Buddha belly, sadly. Still have those long legs. You are still wearing 3-6 month clothes, most are still loose on you and others fit perfectly. Some of your pants I had to retire, because they are too short. You moved up to medium G-diapers and new cloth diapers arrived.
Thanks for being my pride and joy and brightening my days. It’s hard not to squeeze you and eat you, you are so darn cute. I wish everyone could see your cute personality and hear all the little noises you make. Thanks for being so content to play by yourself on your mat, and we’ll work on tummy time; it’s not your favorite. Thanks for loving story time too. You stare in awe of your books and always get excited when you see pictures, especially of you, dad and I when looking through photo albumns. I love the way you kick your feet, and make an “ooo” face when we have story time.
I also love how you stare at yourself in the mirror and talk to yourself. You love the boys we watch, and are always smiling at them. You love playing with your cousins too. Baby girl thanks for being you and thanks for blessing your parents each and every day with a little ray of sunshine.
Love and Kisses. I love you to life!!

I love your updates, it’s the only way I get to experience baby R from so far away. She looks just like Mama! She sounds like a very easy baby– you’re so blessed. 🙂 xo
