I have been blogging for almost 3 years now and I feel there’s probably so much you don’t know about me. Not that I think I need to share all my personal information with the world, nor would I, but I do think it’s fun to know a little bit more about the author behind the blog. Sometimes it’s hard to truly let your colors shine through a few words on a bloggers site.
It’s kind of like when you get married, and your spouse really sees all of you, flaws included. We learn even more about a person when we are more intimate with them and living in close quarters with one another. I am sure some of my habits surprised my husband and may even irritate the heck out of him.
Today you just might learn something new and quirky about me, and some of these you might have already guessed and may be thinking to yourself…”well that was a given.” I think it’s nice for my readers to learn a little bit more about me, and it’s well over due.
So today sit back and read a few truths about myself….lucky you guys 😉
10 Truths About Me
- I am a total NERD!! In high school I would way rather good to bed early and well rested before a test or any day of school, than stay up to watch a TV show. In fact, I rarely watched TV in high school. I loved reading!! I took books every where with me, even on bus rides to our track meets or cross country meets, and sometimes you would find me reading while walking to my next class. Books filled my free time….even the 3 minutes in between classes or waiting for the class lecture to start.
- I am an introvert – I love my alone time and space. I tend to get nervous and overwhelmed when meeting new people, especially big groups. Even meet-and-greet at church is my least favorite part of service. I used to sneak to the bathroom or would conveniently use that time to busy myself with writing out my tithe check. I hated giving class speeches, and I am still amazed I gave our Valedictorian address at my High School graduation to a gym full of community members. Getting nervous just thinking about it.
- I only do even numbers – I hate odds. I eat things (smaller items) by twos. Did you know there’s an odd amount of peanut M&M’s and it irritates me, because I have to throw the last M&M away or give it up. I have to have an even amount of chips, M&M’s, crackers, fries, cherries, nuts, basically the snack foods, and I count my bites to end on an even. It’s completely bizarre and totally OCD. The volume on the TV and radio has to be an even number too.
- I hated track my junior and senior year of high school – Yes, it’s true. I hated running my last two years of high school. I had a horrible attitude and cheated at workouts like crazy. If the coaches said run 5 miles, we would run 1/2 -1 mile out play around at the swimming hole for a bit and then turn and go back. Definitely not proud of this.
- I am the middle child of 5 – I grew up with a big family, but I didn’t think it was big. I thought 5 kids was an average size, that’s why I tell Marc I want 6 kids (please pray for him 😉 ). I have an older brother and sister and a younger brother and sister. I love our “big” family.
- I love dogs!! – Growing up on a ranch, we always had dogs. We had tons of sheep dogs, and I loved our border collies. I hated having to give away the puppies. We even talked my dad into a little lap dog. The tough country boy ended up loving her the most, so when Lucy died he bought my mom Louie. Growing up in small town USA, you could bring your pets to school, so I frequently brought Lucy to elementary school with me.
- I love all 4 seasons – Honestly, I don’t know how to pick between them. I love and hate then all. Fall is great for running and the colors, summer is so fun for water sports and the produce, winter is pretty and gives me an excuse to buy more scarves and boots, and spring ushers in new life and marks growing season. Then there’s the bitter cold of winter, the muddy mess of spring, the hot, dry of summer, and the early snow of fall. Love-hate.
- I graduated from Gonzaga in 3 years – I didn’t want to have to pay for 4 years of college and already had a head start with college credits while in high school, thus I spent most my semesters with max credits and no social life (see #1) trying to finish in 3 years. All I did was study, read, work and run. My weekends were not spent partying or staying out late. I went to 3 basketball games my entire time in college. I spent more time at the Farmers Market than any other place outside of school, church and work.
- I love to argue & have an intense personality – If I feel strongly about something, I will defend it until the cows come home. I can get fired up and passionate about certain subjects. I hate being told what to believe, and I hate being wrong (marriage has helped with this 😉 ). I can come off as intimidating because of this. There are times I can’t hold my tongue while in public. Not in a rude way, but in a “actually those bars use false advertising to make them seem healthy, but in reality there’s nothing natural about them…” etc.
- I love Jesus – In today’s culture this may be the hardest thing to be open about, especially now. He is my rock and I desire to everyday be more like Him and less of me. I want to live Jesus on a daily basis, by showing His love.
