It’s hard to believe that little miss is almost one years old. We have already been planning her birthday parties, and going over the menu. I am so excited for her birthday, and I am sure more excited then she is. If only all birthday’s could be so simple, when the kids really don’t care whats on the menu or about themes and activities. It’s a great stage.
R was born almost exactly a year after our one year wedding anniversary. Marc and I are celebrating our 2nd year anniversary, and we get to do so with great family and views at the lake. I love being able to spend it here. Last year we actually ran a 1/2 marathon together in the same location and we stayed in a cozy hotel. This year we are at a great cabin right on the lake, minutes away from great hiking and a short run away from great running trails. I am in runner heaven folks.
Miss R,
It seems like mere moments that we were just taking you home from the NICU and now you are 11 months old, and a ball of character. You love people, as long as mom is within reach. You could entertain a crowd for hours, which is why you love the cross country girls I help coach. They give you all their attention, and you can’t complain.
You have mastered the crawling, but still go back and forth between scooting and crawling now. It’s funny. I love how you take a slow, methodical approach to crawling, doing it with perfection. You have to pull yourself up on anything, even mom and dad. We frequently become your jungle gym. You don’t seem like my tiny little girl any more, and you look so grown up. When did you get so big?
You crawl, following me around the house. Your favorite toys are mommy’s Nuun bottles and your balls. You can throw those balls far and love to play catch. I love how you always have a Nuun water bottle in your month as you crawl or scoot around. You’ll scream if I take it away too. To keep the peace I have designated certain water bottles to be your toys.
R you have a fake laugh. You scoot and crawl around doing a fake chuckle, and you do it all the time to impress family, friends, strangers, and the cross country girls. You love to be heard when in a crowd of people, thus you get loud and animated. I think you will be a people person for sure. You must get that from your Nana G and Auntie Mariah. Definitely not a trait of your dad and I’s. We don’t like big crowds.
At church you bob your head to the music and lift your arms, and you have been doing great in the nursery. You are never in there long. Always the last to arrive and the first to leave. It’s been hard leaving you in the afternoons for practice. Your auntie takes great care of you for the few hours I am gone. I always rush back to you. I hate leaving you.
Now that you are so mobile, everything is for grabs. Our house is definitely not baby proof, but there’s not much we can do. We would have to pack up half the house and put it in storage. I don’t mind you playing the cupboards anyways. You mainly go for the water bottles.
You went on a nap strike for a couple weeks, and sometimes it is still hard to get you to fall asleep, even when you are exhausted. You much rather play in your crib, pulling yourself up and sitting up. This has made your naps much shorter. Most of the time you fall asleep sitting up, and hunched over, so I lay you down to make it more comfortable for you.
R you are still a great sleeper through the night and I am still nursing you. You are wanting more and more food off of our plates, and enjoy feeding yourself. Your appetite has been hit and miss lately, but I think this is due to your teething. Growing like a weed in length. Slowly moving into 12 month clothes, but most are still way to big and baggy. The length is perfect though.
You have become quite demanding, like you mother. You don’t like to be interrupted or taken from your play time. Hopefully we grow out of this 😉 Still enjoy your hugs & kisses too!! Love you lots baby girl.
