I love to look back on my year, and especially love to look back on the many miles and races ran throughout the year. As I wrap up 2015, it’s fun to reminiscence all the great runs and memories. Running brought me many knew friendships, taught me valuable lessons and helped me through a lot this year.
When I face challenges I run, and this year has had many, thus running has been a big part of my year. Many races were fun, while others were a struggle. All have taught me so much about myself, and helped me realize when we work hard and put in the time, we can achieve.
Every year I love to do a review of my running for the year, by answering a few simple questions. This is typically done as a link up every year at MissZippy’s site, but this year there wasn’t a link up. I decided to continue on with the tradition, as I love to see what I have learned, the goals I accomplished, and what I have learned.
- Best race experience? The Missoula Marathon was my best race experience. I PR’d by 9 minutes 8 months postpartum and felt great most of the race. I even felt I could have done more or gone farther. It was surprising to see what I could do.
- Best run? I had many runs that were good, and the ones where the pain in my hamstring wasn’t unbearable were always welcomed. I especially loved running with the cross country team through wooded trails during those early and late fall months.
- Best new piece of gear? This is easy, but hard for me. I love my new vests from Oiselle, the katron vest and the Gilman vest. They are my favorite pair of running apparel and are so versatile. In general there have been some great additions to my running gear, with the new TimeX one GPS.
- Best piece of running advice you received? Believe in yourself. I am learning to be better at this, and understand that I can do more than my mind believes at time. Being told I can accomplish much and I can achieve my dreams has been the best advice.
- Most inspirational runner? This year there were many inspirational runners. So many women who qualified for the olympic trials just recently after taking time from running. Watching their journey was inspiring. Many of these women were Oiselle team members.
- If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be? Painful Bliss or bittersweet.
