38 Week Update

August 19, 2016 Bryanna

Another two weeks have gone by since my last update. We’ll just cut right to the chase again, because 1. I am tired and exhausted 2. I don’t have much more to talk about than baby updates 3. I am feeling anxious and it’s all I talk about is when is baby coming!!

I had a procedure down at the hospital to try to turn baby since he was still breech at 37 weeks, the ECV or “version”. The procedure was unsuccessful. Baby still has time to turn, but he just didn’t want to that morning. We were able to get his butt out of my pelvis, as he was sitting low. The procedure was very uncomfortable and didn’t feel so great. A very intense procedure. I had to close my eyes, because I didn’t like watching my doctors face as she and another doctor tried turning him. They were so intense and pushing so hard. My abdomen is sore from it all.

It was scary going into it. I didn’t sleep much the night before and was nauseous that morning, because I couldn’t eat or drink for 8 hours before the procedure. It was a risky procedure given that my fluids were lower than the threshold for the procedure, but my doctor was willing to try. It could have resulted in an emergency c-section if the placenta was punctured. Low fluids makes it harder for baby to turn. Lets just say for the past few weeks I have been laying upside down on an ironing board, trying the ice pack and did the webster technique at the chiropractor. Nothing has seemed to work, but I am praying baby boy will turn now that his butt isn’t stuck. I have been drinking water like crazy.

38 week update August 19th

Gender: Boy (I think he’ll stay this way ;), I’ve had multiple ultrasounds because of other reasons, and I always ask…)

Symptoms: The back pain is much better. I am basically back to walking normal now!! Woot Woot. I do have lower back pain every so often, but this is just from all the pressure as baby was lower in my pelvis (turns out butt down is more pressure). I have been more nauseous and throwing up again, but no braxton hicks yet that I have felt. I have apparently been having contractions, or so the nurse said, but I don’t feel them. Still no appetite and my fluids were low again at my last appointment. They are getting lower, which is normal as the pregnancy gets closer to due date, but no matter how much water I drank they wouldn’t get higher.

Maternity Clothes: None

Baby size: The baby is measuring great according to the doctor and should be close to 7 pounds at delivery or over 7 pounds. I am happy about this, since gaining weight has been a struggle.

Belly Button: outie

Stretch Marks: none

Sleep: Not really. Some nights are better than others, but most of the nights I am restless or up by 2 or 3 a.m. and can’t get back to bed. It’s difficult getting comfortable enough to sleep and there is a lot more pain when lying down. I have to elevate my back a little to sleep because laying on my sides is to painful. Maybe as baby turns (hands clasped) this will get easier.

Miss Anything: I don’t know at this point. Nothing comes to mind.

Cravings: Chocolate!! I have my stash of dark chocolate I give into. Ice cream too, but that’s probably because it’s been in the 90s the past week.

Aversions: Anything can be an aversion at times. If I prepare the food, I feel it is a food I won’t eat. It’s weird. Maybe I need someone to cook my dinners 😉

Looking Forward to: Baby boy’s arrival and enjoying my family when they come to visit.

What I am Loving: At this point, nothing much. I do love that I am carrying a precious baby boy!!

Workouts: Doing my strength and core, got some swims in and walking now every morning and/or night. Not able to run yet. I give it a try every so often, but the pain is just to intense. Maybe next week I can run just a little. I keep the hope!!

Have a great weekend folks!!
