Pallouse Falls Adventure

April 8, 2014 Bryanna

I am a little late posting this week, but it was a busy weekend and Monday!! I kept putting off tasks, which isn’t like me. Finally got the house cleaned last night.

Marc and I took a little adventure to the Pallouse Falls on Saturday afternoon. It’s about a 2 hour drive from our house. We stayed over at my sister and her husband’s house Friday night and slept in until 7 a.m. We finished our long run, which I was thankful was only 16 miles, and got ready for our road trip. It was a nice run to the state line and back, with sun shining.

It did get a little cloudy while we were hiking around the falls, but it was mid to upper 50s, which is great hiking weather.

As you can see I don’t get  very close to the edge!!

This was taken coming back from the top of the falls after we hiked to the top. We were literally sitting on top of them.

It’s been awhile since we have hiked, so I was happy to finally do it. I wasn’t happy about the rattlesnake spotting on the hike though.

And no I didn’t snap it’s photo Marc did, I wasn’t getting that close!!

This spoiled the hike for me. When it comes to snakes I am a baby!! No, growing up on a ranch didn’t make me immune to snakes. I hated spotting them and I hated been told to kill the rattlesnakes whenever you saw one. I couldn’t even kill one while in a car, that’s how scared I am. These creatures aren’t my friend.

On a lighter note, the falls were gorgeous!! It was fun hiking down to the falls to stand literally on top of them and kind of nerve wrecking. Even though I love hiking, I am slightly afraid of heights. Watching people get so close to the edge freaked me out. I am the “don’t look down” girl. Spotting the snake didn’t help my already jittery self.

These photos are of the little falls before the big set of falls. We hiked down and then up again to get to the top of the falls.

The only downfalls of this hike is that it’s rattlesnake country. Definitely better to do the hike in the spring when the rattlesnakes aren’t coming out of hiding yet (typically). Buzzfeed recently ranked them as one of the 29 places to see before you die in the U.S. It’s a stunning view!!

We had fun snapping photos on the railroad track that’s in the middle of the hike. Two trains went by on our hike.

Hope you had a great weekend. I only have 12 days until the Boston Marathon. I am already getting a little nervous and dug the suitcase out to start packing!! It’s my Type A personality.

Your photos are BREATHTAKING!! I need to go to this place, seriously. I hate snakes too, very scary that it’s rattlesnake country where the falls are, eek! Although I think I would take my chances like you guys did, to see something as beautiful as those views, wow.

Gorgeous! Just gorgeous. I can’t believe you hiked all of that after a 16-miler (OK, I can, because you are awesome).

I am a baby when it comes to most wildlife, and I would have been DONE if I saw a rattlesnake. I freaked out killing a small green garden snake with a lawnmower as a teen. Ick!

Kimberly, it wasn’t too intense of a hike. The uphill werent too fun though. The pictures don’t capture the great views!! They do no justice.

GORGEOUS! What a beautiful place! I’ve always wanted to see a rattlesnake in the wild, is that weird!?
