Hey folks!!
I hope everyone’s weekend was fun packed. Mine was!! I was able to spend two days with family.
My family traveled over for the Bloomsday run.
It’s a huge event in Spokane, and thousands of people run it (50,000). Since moving to Spokane, I have done Bloomsday the past 4 years, but this year I opted out.
As you know I have a nagging knee injury, and ever since Boston it’s been hard running consistently without pain. I have a marathon in two weeks, so I wanted to save my knee, thus no Bloomsday. It was disappointing though, especially since my aunt and cousins came to participate for the first time. I did enjoy watching the bloomies (that’s what we call the Bloomsday runners) and cheering on my boss, family and friends. Such a fun race!!
I did get to snag a photo with my family after the race.
After the race on Sunday, Marc and I hung out with my family and took them to a great sushi bar The Wave. I love their sweet potato fries even more, but their sushi is great too.
Saturday Marc’s niece Cassara had her 3rd birthday. She is adorable.
It was great to see the family. This is Cheyenne riding her bike.
Robi (Marc’s mom) and I grabbed a photo!!
We had awesome homemade food, some of Cassara’s favorites.
We all enjoyed being outside with the kids and playing.
And can’t forget cake and opening gifts.
I also have some exciting news. On Friday, Lisa from runwiki, asked me to be apart of the Nuun Hydration Ragnar Relay in Wastach Back Utah June 20-21. I emailed a lady from Nuun and she said the spots mine if I want it. I am just making sure I can get the time off from work, but my answer is yes!! I hope I can make it work.
I have wanted to do a Ragnar Relay since they started them a couple years ago. They look amazingly fun. I mean what sounds more fun than being in a van with 5 other runners, covering 200 miles in two days, all sweaty and sleep deprived with no showers?? I can’t wait!! Honestly, sometimes there’s nothing better than being confined in tight quarters with others who share your same passion for running!!
This morning I had a great 6 mile run, even with my bum knee.
It was gorgeous out this morning. The knee does fine if I give myself rest days in between runs. By my third run my knee is achy and it’s painful, but I still finished 12 miles in 1:30:33 on Saturday morning. Ice, foam rolling, rest, and strength are now more important than ever.
Marc and I enjoyed a Broccoli Basil Cheesy Macaroni Bake for dinner tonight with some sauteed green beans.
I had spinach, broccoli, basil and cheese to use up, so I thought I would give macaroni bake another try. Nothing beats cheese and pasta. For desert its Ben and Jerry’s Boston Cream Pie, since we missed out in Boston. Yum!!
Hope everyone enjoyed the start of their week!!
