Hello Friends!!
I hope you had a well spent 4th!! I know I did. Although I missed the cabin at Seeley Lake with family (a tradition with my family), I was able to spend some quality time with a good friend, my man and my sisters family. The last couple of days have been a blur. We did so much.
I started my 4th with a great sweaty run.
I spent the better half of the 4th at Couer d’Alene Lake. It was crowded with the 4th of July festivities. But I always love having time to lay in the sun. I love vitamin D!!
There was great vendors out and live music. And the company was well worth it.
It was toasty out and my little nephew could only take so much sun, which is understandable. As the day progressed it got more and more crowded and it was time to leave.
We went out do dinner at Red Robin, a favorite among my sister and brother-in-loves family. I was able to find a vegan burger on the menu and I subbed the bun for a lettuce wrap, and swapped the fries for sweet potato fries (they are a bit healthier).
Marc and I ordered a cake brownie to go…sometimes you have to splurge. And we’ve been running alot, so we deserve it right?
After dinner it was nearing the time for fireworks. To avoid crowds and traffic we opted for the firework show in Liberty Lake, where my sister and her family lives. It’s a small town but they had lots of activities throughout the day to celebrate the 4th.
We walked to the park since it’s not far from my sister’s house and were entertained with live music, while we waited for the fireworks to start.
I had to snap some photos of my nephew with my sis and bestie, Hannah (who happens to be my brother-in-love’s sister) and her mom.
Sorry for the fuzzy picture.
It was a short show, only 11 minutes, but the company made it all worth it. Not going to lie, I have been spoiled with watching the firework show in Seeley Lake on the water. Last year it was so amazing. We were so close to the fireworks from where they were shot off on the water. It felt like the fireworks were falling on us.
Friday I tried to catch up on homework. Afterwards I picked up part of my bridal party gifts. I am so thankful to have that done. Then I met with an old college friend and roommate at Boots (it’s a cute vegan, gluten free bakery with great salads and iced tea). I loved catching up with Gini.
I was in charge of making dinner Friday night. I made Creamed Sweet Peas with Baby Reds. Cassie’s mother-in-love made the barbecued chicken to go with them. It’s such an easy dish to make and so delish!!
Saturday it was time for picking up fresh produce from the farmers market. Afterwards we headed to Riverside State Park to hike around Bowl and Pitcher.
We had to show off the suspension bridge over the Spokane River.
And pause for some photos with my bestie Hannah and take some family shots of my sister’s family.
We ended the day with some ice cream from our local ice cream shop, the Scoop.
I had coconut caramel fudge swirl and white chocolate macadamia nut.
Today I did my long run with my fiance, Marc. We spent some time in the sun before he headed into work. When he got off the boys went to hit some golf balls at the driving range and Cassie, Micah, and I went on a bike ride around Liberty Lake.
After the boys got back Cassie and I went to the park and played some tennis. It was fun, but I have never played tennis before. We did a lot of laughing and it was embarrassing at times. An older gentleman told us about a free tennis clinic that can help with our technique.Of course #ithappened to me!!
I loved my 4th of July weekend!! It was great to spend it with close friends and some family and we definitely kept it eventful. Oh and I made sure to keep up with my Missoula Marathon training. One week away!!
What was the highlight of your weekend? Any fun 4th of July traditions?
