With summer around the corner many of us are trying to get in the best shape for shorts and tanks. Tabata workouts are HIIT – high intensity interval training – which are great for burning calories on little time, while building muscle and reducing fat.
You can do these moves anywhere and most don’t require any weights, unless you want to add more resistance. I designed 3 workouts that only require 20 minutes, thus are great for the time pressed moms or busy men and women needing an all over body workout.
These moves will help tone the body and increase strength. Many muscle groups are engaged and used. Also, these workouts incorporate cardio to blast fat, while toning muscles. I find combining strength and cardio is effective. You can fit this in while kids are playing at the park, playing or napping, or before starting the day. Even fun having the kids join in too. You can add these workouts to the end of your run as well.
Anyone can make time for a 20 minute workout. Each workout has 4 moves/set. Do each move for 4 minutes, 20 seconds on 10 seconds off. Rest 1 minute between moves, for a total of 20 minutes. I guarantee you’ll feel the burn!! Feel free to add weights for more resistance to the moves such as the Russian twist, one hundred, jumping squat, and high knees.
I like Tabata workouts when I am pressed for time, but still need to add in some strength training. They are humbling workouts as well.
Enjoy these kick you in the butt burn moves!!
