We had an amazing time in Montana over the weekend, and as always the trip was too fast. R had an early birthday while there and later this week I hope to share the fun from the past weekend. It was great seeing family and friends and my new niece. Our niece will be nearly exactly one year younger than R and it’s crazy seeing how big R is compared to her. I can’t believe R was ever that small.
Being around a new baby definitely gave me the baby bug and made my ovaries hurt. 😉 I miss that stage already, and it’s only been a year. It’s not like R is that old, but yet it feels like it was forever ago. This will probably be the last Baby R update in a while, now that she is over the infant stage and moving onto toddler stage. Out little girl has grown so much over the past few months, it’s almost crazy. Here’s a look at her through the last 12 months:
Newborn 1 month
2 months 3 months
4 months 5 months
6 months 7 months
8 months 9 months
10 months 11 months
Now!!
It was hard celebrating her first birthday emotionally, because I realized that from here on out she’ll continue to grow, change, and age and there’s nothing I can do about it. She’ll always be my little girl though, no matter what she says or thinks 😉 How could it be one year has already passed us by. It seems like just yesterday I was holding her for the first time. It’s really true that you blink and they’re gone….
Baby girl,
You have changed the last year of my life in so many ways. I never thought I could love a little person as much as I love you. Everyday my love grows with you, even on those days when I am simply exhausted from running around after you and trying to keep up with all you get into. So much has happened for us in your first year. You’ve traveled across the U.S., through Montana, to Oregon, many places in Idaho, been to lakes, swam in lakes, ran all over the state, rode ponies and hiked.
I love how adventurous you are already. You are demanding, loving, and a joy. I can’t get enough of your baby blues and smile. Even your wet kisses are the best. Thanks for always cuddling with me and giving me the best morning hugs.
You never cry when you wake up from naps or in the morning. You just lay in your crib patiently waiting for me to come in and get you. Occasionally you’ll make noises to let me know you are awake, and other times you just like to play for a bit before I come in to get you.
R you are crawling all over the place, getting into everything, pulling yourself up on anything and everything, butt scooting places, and pushing your toys around learning to walk. You love to walk to the mailbox with me, holding my hands and stopping at every leaf and bush to inspect it. It makes me slow down and breath on those walks. It’s the one part of my day that is actually slow paced and not rushed. I love those moments with you. I love watching you push around your walker toy, walking on your own. Your first steps are probably coming soon.
You melt my heart!! This year has flown. You love saying “duck”, “dada”, “hi”, “dog”, “mama”, and “papa” even too!! He taught you that while in MT. You imitate sounds all the time and are into shaking your head yes whenever I do. You give us high-fives and wave Hi and Bye. You are starting to point at things as well, and I try to explain what everything is. You babble to your toys and giggle at your toys. If only I knew what you were saying and thinking.
Your new favorite toy are your new dolls from your birthday party. You get so excited whenever I bring them out and very mad whenever they are taken away. You scream, and it’s a scream that is heard around the world. Back home you surprised everyone with how loud you could scream, and this happens alot when we go places. Your dad says it makes his “vision go wavy” and for me it makes my ears ring. There’s even a happy, “I am enjoying myself” scream that causes others to stare when we are out and about. I guess you liked to be heard. You still love your water bottles too.
We have fully transitioned into 12-18 month clothing, but most are still too big for you. You have no butt and are super long. At your 1 year checkup earlier today, you weighed in at the 34th percentile and are now 30 inches tall (76th percentile). You haven’t gained a pound since 9 months. Long and skinny. R I am still breast feeding you. I tried introducing almond milk, but you don’t like it much. You much rather prefer nursing. I nurse 3-4 times per day, and you eat basically what we eat. You are a great eater, unless you are teething. I have decided we’re starting the weaning process in a couple months, since it didn’t go ever well the first time.
You have 4 teeth, 2 top and 2 bottom, and some more coming in. You have been gnawing away on your little fingers. Still sleeping like a champ and taking 2 naps, one in the morning and one after lunch. Recently you discovered the piano and you love it!! You could play it forever. Daddy will have to help teach you, because I don’t remember most of what I learned years ago.
Thanks for making this past year so full, fun, joyful, and adventurous. You kept me on my toes and filled me with so much more joy. Whenever I had a bad day, I had only to look at you and I would feel better. God has amazing plans for you little miss!! I am excited to see where He takes you.
Keep loving Him and believing in yourself. You will do great things. Know you are loved.
Love Mom
