Spooky Sprint 5k Recap

November 6, 2018 Bryanna

Tuesday Morning Wake Up with Bryanna –

A weekend of racing for the sisters a few weekends ago – but Mariah had her recap in first. I am now sharing mine for ya’ll. It was a family race, aka the whole family participated. I surprised myself 3 months post partum.

As you all know, I love Kidrunner. The stroller is amazing and it’s much easier to pull a stroller than to push one. So easy in fact, I won my first race back post baby #3 pulling the Kidrunner with R as my passenger. I was third overall, first female and first in Age Group. I wasn’t expecting to win my age group, let alone the entire race.

It was an easy out and back on a trail, but not a very wide trail, which made it hard to pass. They always make strollers start in the back of the pack, but I squeezed my way toward the front, or as close to it as I could be. I slowly passed individuals throughout the entire race. R kept reminding me I wasn’t in front, which kept me motivated to keep moving forward.

Eventually passing all the women and then most of the men. I almost had the second place male, but he told me he wasn’t going to let a mom with a stroller beat him after the race. So he snagged it at the finish by a few seconds. I just wanted to run under 21 minutes with the stroller, and nailed that goal by a bit. I felt good and strong during the race. It was much more comfortable first race back than I thought it was going to be.

It was great to get my legs moving again and be out racing. It has seemed to be a while since I have raced. I know I still have more work to do to be back into “race shape” according to my standards, but I will take any victories along the way. I still hate the 5k. A painful race, and definitely wasn’t in full 5k race shape. The race reminded me of the work that needs to be done, but also how amazing my body is to bounce back only 3 months post baby. To think 3 months ago I had given birth….

I have a few more races planned before the end of the year, a few more with the Kidrunner and one 10k running solo. Running in Texas is a little different, as fall races are not as cold and winter is probably going to be a bit warmer than I am used to as well. I am dressed in nothing compared to the other race participants 😉 hahahaha – The weather is perfect in the mornings and I have enjoyed those 50 degree mornings. Here’s to some great races in the future!!

Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit
