Weekend Recap: Hiking Through Bowl and Pitcher

June 10, 2014 Bryanna

It’s been awhile since I have done a weekend recap so I thought I would share the adventures of my weekend, with some great pictures from our hike.

Marc and I had a great weekend together. We both didn’t have to work on Friday so we did a nice 8 mile trail run and then decided to do an easy hike through Riverside State Park. It’s a quick drive, practically in the city of Spokane, nestled along the Spokane River. There’s miles and miles of paved trails as well as dirt, rocky trails. We started at Bowl and Pitcher.

It’s only a 20-30 minute drive from our house and easy terrain to cover. I plan on running the trails this weekend. I should probably take Marc along with me though, because I have a tendency to get lost for hours on trails, especially when they split and go various directions.

I forgot how beautiful it is in Riverside State Park

We crossed the suspension bridge and watched some kayakers and those rafting enjoy the rapids. We followed the river East for a ways before getting lost in some thick forest, well technically not lost because Marc has a sense of direction.

We spent a couple of hours navigating the trails before I spotted a snake on some rocks. After that my hiking fun was over. I have a huge fear of snakes, and unfortunately one spotting is enough for me. I nearly stepped on it. Marc said “You’re fast, but I have never seen you move so fast.”

I like to get some photos from the top of Bowl and Pitcher, but only had my iPhone so they aren’t the greatest.

This is definitely an easy hike to take our little Bean on next Spring and Summer, as the trails aren’t too technical when walking. I can’t wait!!

Saturday was a nice easy 12 miles. My first longer run back from the marathon a week ago. It definitely wasn’t my best run either. Some days I just feel incredibly spent and so tired. I spent most of the day with my sister and stayed with her on Saturday. She is ready to pop anytime now, and I can’t wait to welcome my second nephew into this world.

Sunday Marc and I got to relax by the pool and soak up some rays. We enjoyed a calm evening, first one in a long time.

I hope to get lots more hiking in this summer. Hope you all had a great weekend!!

It looks so beautiful! I love trails! I must admit that I envy the trees and water– it is pretty much a arid dessert out here, it’s beautiful, I love it, but it would nice to see some trees! Love you my beautiful run/blog sister. xoxo

Yes we definitely have a lot of trees in parts of the inland northwest!! It’s a different type of beauty.
