3 Months Update & Matcha Green Tea Protein Bites

January 21, 2015 Bryanna

I can’t believe baby girl is already 3 months old. When you’re in the moment, you don’t realize how fast time goes by. I decided to go back to doing my updates in a letter, as I used to write her letters while in utero. This way she can go back and have something to read, and it makes it more fun to read the update.

I also wanted to share a great recipe for protein bites with matcha green tea powder. One of my new favorites!!

My little bean, you are already 3 months old and the sweetest little thing. Everyday I am more and more blessed to have you, and you bring a smile to my face.

baby girl

You are now sleeping 10-12 hours straight during the night, with out waking once to feed. Some say I am blessed, others curse at me (because they are jealous), and still others say it will all change. I am hoping I stay blessed with a great sleeper, so keep it up baby girl!! 😉

You are typically in bed by 8 p.m. and don’t wake until 6 a.m. on most days. After a feeding at 6 a.m., you go back to bed until 8-9 a.m. So in total you sleep anywhere from 12-14 hours.

For about 2 weeks, you were only taking short 1 hour naps throughout the day, but you are now back to napping for 2-3 hours, once in the morning, and once in the afternoon. I try to keep you up for a couple hours after you wake, so you will sleep longer and it has worked.

You love your play mat now, and are starting to grab at things. Most of the time you just love to stare and watch things. You can be on the mat for hours and not get upset. This allows mommy to get so much done!!

I love all the new sounds and cooing you are doing. You are happiest in the mornings when you wake up. You also love to stare at mommy and smile. Whenever I am breast feeding you, you have to stop and stare and smile. It makes some feedings extremely long, but it’s worth it.

You also have a great pouty face. It is both cute and sad at the same time. You don’t like to hear others crying, like your cousin Gabe, as it will result in a frown.

You are still exclusively breast feeding, and won’t take a bottle. Daddy has tried many times, and only once would you take it from him. We think it was just luck. We tried switching bottles, but nothing seems to work. I guess you just want mommy, which means I can’t be away from your for more than 2-3 hours.

When you are really upset, I am the only one that can get you to stop crying. It is rare to hear you crying. You are always so happy and generally content. You do startle easy, and this can set you off. I hate seeing tears.

You are getting used to tummy time, and liking your bumbo chair more. Every day you are more and more alert and curious. You love to look around at the world around you. You can almost completely hold your head up, and you have found your thumb. You suck on it only when super hungry or going to sleep.

Baby girl you are in the 50th percentile for weight and 66th percentile for height. Growing, Growing!! And if even though you are quite beautiful and daddy’s little princess, you can poop and fart. You poop more than any baby I know, and I have taken care of many children as a nanny. It actually amazes people.

You have been known to wake your dad and I up, as well as yourself with the sounds of your farts. They are that loud. You grunt, turn red, and clench your fists when you poop. It’s the cutest thing. Your farts, rumble and are easily felt by anyone who holds you, or anyone who is simply standing in the same room….hahahaha.

Mommy is enjoying that she get’s more sleep than most moms and enjoys being with you. You bring so much joy to my life!! I have been eating like crazy to keep up with all the calories burned with running and breast feeding, and have been able to keep my weight up. Trying not to lose any more. So far so good. I was able to gain some back. Woot Woot!! But I still don’t have my butt……

Love you so much Baby Girl, Mom

Matcha Green Tea Protein Bites

Matcha Green Tea Protein Bites power

If you have 10 minutes, I suggest making these. The matcha powder will help add a caffeine jolt and helps improve endurance, thus they are great prerun and post run. I snag one when I get up to feed baby girl, since I leave for my run shortly after.

I used a plant based protein, and only sweetened with honey. I also added carob powder to them give a chocolaty taste. These have whole, healthy ingredients. Don’t be set back by the weird color. As my hubby said “If only they looked as good as they tasted.” He said they were like candy. I think they taste like brownies.

They are filling too, which is great. They are a great snack to have on hand, and keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks, so you can make lots. You can also freeze some as well!! I have tried them prerun, and didn’t have any digestive problems with them.

They have a nutty, but soft texture and I guarantee it will be hard not to gobble them up. My husband probably shouldn’t have left me at home with them.

Wow 3 months already!! She’s such a sweet baby. I really have missed your blog, parenting 2 is a lot more challenging than I thought, just getting into a groove now. That’s great you’re getting that much sleep. My first was up every two hours and stayed that way for a long time. My second is a bit better now at 7 weeks she’s up 1-2 times a night to feed which is way better especially since I can’t sleep during the day having a 3 (almost 4) year old to entertain. The bites look great, I’ll have to try them out when I get the time 🙂

I think that sleep is the biggest challenge as a parent, especially with another littler one at home. I can only imagine!! You are doing amazing, and that sweet new baby is so adorable. Hope all is well.
