Orange Dream Smoothie

March 7, 2017 Bryanna

A quick smoothie recipe this morning before heading out of the house.

R and I love to try different smoothie combinations and this one tastes like a orange julius, but it has protein and its not loaded with extra sugars and calories. It uses fresh or frozen fruit, and it’s simple. It has the creamy taste of a great smoothie, and it’s orange zing is just what the family needed to help inspire a little more Spring into our lives!! I know Spring is on the horizon. Sometimes it only takes a smoothie to help bring Spring home.

Since oranges are high in vitamin C, I have been consuming them like crazy. I had a sinus infection at the end of last week, and I am still congested, but my symptoms now more mild than they ever have been. Usually a sinus infection can take me days and days, but this one seemed more mild. I credit the oranges and zinc lozenges.

I paired the oranges with frozen strawberries, also a good vitamin C source. Berries are great for antioxidant content as well, and colds and flus are always circulating during this time of year, so a little immune system boosting helps. The best way to boost your immunity is eating a balanced, whole foods diet with antioxidant rich foods and foods rich in nutrients. Staying away from the processed sugars this time of year is important.

This smoothie can help curb any sugar cravings, while providing protein and being a great recovery shake. Sip up friends!! I also added in some raspberries to boost nutrients, and I always recommend organic berries when possible.

Do you think you could come love with me and be my personal chef? We could be roomies again like when we were growing up? We had so much sisterly bonding time.
