Change…….
What do you think of change? Do you embrace change or fear change?
Our family has been through major change in the past few weeks. As you know, or if you are new here, we moved halfway across the United States from Washington state to Texas (Bryanna and family that is). It has all been a new adventure, which is exciting and fun. Adventures are always just that an adventure, but eventually the adventure ends and you realize that you are in real life.
This new adventure becomes your new chapter in life. We have transitioned from what was comfortable and familiar to something very unfamiliar and different. So much has changed in our life, and our children are realizing that Texas is not just a place to visit, but will become our new “home.”
My daughter is constantly wanting to go to her favorite ice cream place, that “restaurant we went to with Nana by my favorite ice cream place,” the coffee place with “my not-so-hot hot cocoa,” the park by our house, the church “down the big hill” and the list goes on. Trying to explain that we are not in Washington any more and we are in Texas, and it’s not just a short ride away, has been tough. Many meltdowns have ensued and I think the Texas heat is catching up with all of us.
Change means hurt may occur, you may become uncomfortable, challenged, filled with sadness about leaving family and friends and you begin to miss the old (I have shed tears throughout this process). Change also means new. There’s new beginnings, new joy, a new chapter in your book of life, new friends to be made, new part of your destiny. What part of change are you willing to embrace?
Change begins to shift us, helps us go where we are supposed to be. I don’t know if Texas is the end of our story, or the beginning, just another stepping stone in our story. I don’t know how long we will be in this place, but I want to be comfortable being uncomfortable. I want the power that change holds.
Change has the power to move us, grow us, change us & restore us. It’s hard to step out into the unknown, but it is so rewarding when it’s part of God’s plan. It’s easier knowing that to Him nothing is unknown. He holds the stars in place. He carries us through the fire. He restores and refreshes us. The power of change is part of His plan. It’s part of bringing us into His destiny for our lives.
Instead of fearing change, I can find comfort in knowing that God has us. Our faith grows when we allow change the power to develop us and shape us. When drastic change happens, you have to have faith that God has it all under control, because to be honest I feel a huge loss of control.
I let go of what I can’t control more and more everyday and embrace it all. I embrace change and it’s challenges and little sadness it may bring. I embrace also the greatness it will bring and new opportunities. I try to find every opportunity to be thankful for this new place and season in life.
It’s been an adjustment for sure, and the adjusting is still happening. It’s a process, but a process that will lead to progress…….another post for another time.
So for now we say Hi Ya’ll from Texas……..
Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit

“If God brings you to it, He’ll bring you through it.” A favorite saying of mine. Many blessings on your new adventure! (I will be in Austin for a conference in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to experience Texas for the first time!)
