Mango Tangerine Fruit Roll-Ups

November 18, 2019 Bryanna

Wellness Wednesday is easily one of my favorite days of the week, but we are starting it early on Monday with a fun recipe! Most are not fan’s of Mondays, so adding in some flavor fun is welcomed and will help us power through the week.

I am in taper mode, so I have a few extra minutes to spare each day now, but it seems those minutes are quickly filled with other work tasks and children. It’s nice to have race day approaching, but I am beginning to feel a little nervous. I will be leaving all 3 kids behind for a few days while I am in California, and I don’t want to leave them. But I might actually sleep before my race without all the kiddos! It’s been a tough training phase and I am happy to have made it this far.

There’s been much to juggle in this training season, but at least the weather is great now! It’s not 80 degrees every morning, but instead feels like fall. I will say marathon training during cross country season and then holiday season does have it’s challenges, but I made it work.

Thankfully I had great Barleans products to help me through. From CBD oil to my omega-3 Fish Oil. I take this daily and my children enjoy the Barleans Omega Pal. They would chug a whole bottle if I let them. We decided to try some fruit roll-ups with the omega pals. Or commonly known as fruit leathers. I do not buy fruit roll-ups, because of the dyes used and all the sugar added.

Making your own is actually quite simple too. I enlisted my husband’s creativity with this recipe and suggested making fruit roll-ups. We’ve been wanting to make them for some time and they literally take 5 minutes to prepare. It’s not hard to be “creative” with these, because flavors are endless and the task is easy. I just threw another batch in the oven this morning. They’ll be ready by this afternoon.

Wanting to add the benefits of essential fatty acids, we used Barleans Seriously Delicious Omegas. It gave our mango fruit roll-ups a nice tropical taste, that is both sweet and tart. These fruit roll-ups are a healthy alternative to buying fruit roll-ups and you don’t have any artificial ingredients or any added sugars to contend with.

What do I like most about these? They are one ingredient, unless you added a little honey. They are simple to make and you only need fruit. You can make many different flavors and flavor combinations, and even add in some greens mixed with fruits too. Your kids will love them and so will you. I suggest making a few batches because they will go fast.

I store my fruit leathers in the refrigerator and they keep well without drying out and getting hard. Or you can store them at room temperatures. With the Barleans omega Pals, I suggest storing in the refrigerator.

Do note that dehydrating times can vary based on how humid it is in your area, the type of fruit used and how thick you spread the fruit puree. Also, please do not heat the oils above 220 degrees!! Keeping the oven at 175 degrees is plenty warm to make the fruit leathers, and this preserves all nutrients!!

I take my essential oils every day. I believe they have helped me with hormone production and function, healthy hair and skin and recovery after hard workouts as they act as an anti-inflammatory. Omega Pals is fish your kids will love and they will ask for more of.  They have many benefits for children as well with the following benefits:

  • healthy brain function and promotes healthy immune system
  • helps protect against asthma and arthritic symptoms
  • helps with cognitive and eye function

It’s important to note that EFA’s are essential because the body needs them in order to be healthy and cannot make them. My kids favorite flavor is Hooty Fruity Tangerine Omega Pals, but they also love Chirpin Slirpin Lemonade too. I love all the flavors and consume them like they are candy, in the right dosing of course 🙂 So give them a try and give this new recipe a try.

Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit
