Howdy Friends!!
Marc and I are enjoying Boston, so much so I don’t want to leave. We had a great experience at the Red Sox game yesterday and of course love Fenway. I am very tempted to accidentally miss my flight. I love Bean Town and all it’s history. It’s one of my dream places to live.
The marathon is tomorrow and I am super nervous but super excited at the same time. This race has an entirely new meaning to me, and I plan to soak it all in. I am not worried as much about time, especially with the growing Bean now. This will be baby’s first marathon, and boy did it pick a great one to run first. The holy grail of all races. I think my husband may be a little jealous. 😉
While away on another adventure with our growing family, I wanted to share some of the adventures our little wee one has been involved in. He/she has been pretty active, and I hope he/she comes out running!! 😉
As you know we found out at week 9 that we were officially pregnant. We heard the baby’s heart beat for the first time. I was 8 weeks along before I took the pregnancy test, so basically spent my entire training for Boston pregnant without knowing it. It explains the really tough runs and the puking.
Here’s Bean’s Adventures To Date:Â
- Week 7: Highest mileage to date, with 77 miles for the week. I had no idea I was pregnant, Â or I probably wouldn’t have been running such high mileage.
- Week 8: Little Bean’s first half marathon in Bozeman Montana. The reason for my horrible race. I had taken the pregnancy test at this point, but was hoping it could be a false positive, if I am to be completely honest (thoughts have changed a little now, once I got over the initial shock).
- Week 9: Little Bean won his/her first race. A short 5 mile run in 32:32, first female overall and a PR. I have to say it felt awesome to chick some men, knowing I was 9 weeks prego. I think my husband is a snidge-bit jealous his little Bean has a trophy before him. 😉
- Week 10: Little Bean finished his/her last long training run before the Boston Marathon, and I think was excited….I know I was.
- Week 11: Little Bean finished a 16 mile run with a hike around the Pallouse Falls and had his/her first rattlesnake sighting. I don’t think that was good for either of our heart rates. Little Bean saw one of the most gorgeous places in the United States.
- Week 12: Little Bean had their first long trail run on a great crisp morning and the last long run before Boston. Enjoyed some great views.
- Week 13: Little Bean took his/her first airplane ride across the country to Boston, MA to run the Boston Marathon. It’s one active baby 😉
- And soon at 13 weeks 3 days will run his/her first ever Marathon, and the Boston Marathon at that, during an epic year.
- And soon at 14 weeks will run his/her first Ragnar Relay Trail run in Zion National Park….don’t be jealous 😉 taking another airplane ride 1 day after returning from Boston to Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be his/her first camping adventure as well.
I am worn out just typing it all…..lol….oh and in a week another race, in a couple weeks another 1/2 marathon, a marathon June 1st, another 1/2 in July, and then I think I am cutting Bean off 😉
I don’t have a noticeable baby bump yet, but my abs are slowly fading. It’s all a huge transition.
Even though my little Bean was a complete surprise and completely unplanned and at first I was in sheer shock and wishing it was all a dream, I love Bean and I am ready for all those adventures we will take together. I know God has some big plans for our baby, and I have the privilege of watching those dreams and plans come to fruition. How blessed am I. I am growing a baby that has/will change my world and life, and those around him/her.
Here’s to more adventures….
Have a great Sunday. Wish Bean and I a good race for tomorrow, we’ll gladly receive them.
Until Next Time Be Whole and Be Fit

Congrats on your pregnancy!! I’m amazed you were able to maintain Boston training the first trimester- I kept running, but was so exhausted. Best of luck growing this little bean!

Thank you Laura. It was definitely hard, but I didn’t know for so long and thought I was just tired from all my running. It definitely made training very hard the last couple of months.
