Iced Coffee Protein Shake

June 22, 2017 Bryanna

It’s almost the weekend!! Woot Woot!!

I’m just excited because I have my mom in town and we are road tripping. Also, because I get to share this amazingly, easy healthy alternative to a frappe. I think ya’ll will enjoy this now that temperatures are rising and coffee and protein should mix, because you kill two turds with one stone (I just like birds, so I’d rather not use them in the phrase 😉 so I changed the verbage).

Pressed for time in the mornings? Thinking, “either coffee or breakfast, only have time for one, so…….coffee it is.” Well now you can have both, and you’ll be healthier for it. I would always chose breakfast over coffee, however, I know others love coffee more than I do (I’m talking to you hubby).  Now you don’t have to chose, because you can have the best of both worlds. The caffeine will help sustain your energy and the protein will keep hunger at bay.

What’s great is you will get the caffeine kick you might need to survive the day and you’ll also get the protein you need to repair and rebuild those muscle post workout or to help keep you feeling full longer. No need for Starbucks today folks, I’m saving you an arm and a leg today 😉 But seriously, why is Starbucks SOO expensive. If you’re going to pay that much for coffee, buy local coffee or support your local coffee barista stands and local shops. I personally like the charm better anyways, but I am all local. I digress.

Cool down with an Iced Coffee met with some protein and flavor. The sweetness of a Frappe, at a fraction of the calories and without all the unhealthy fats. Who doesn’t win here? Besides Starbucks, because now you don’t need those Frappes friends.

Fairly simple to blend up yourself. Just chill some left over coffee and have it ready for adding to a smoothie in the morning. All you need is ice, frozen banana, vanilla protein powder and almond milk (or milk of your choice). I told you it was simple. It’s your morning cup of’Joe with a new twist.

Servings: 2             Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 c cold/chilled coffee
  • 1 c almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3-4 scoops vanilla protein powder
  • 1-2 c ice

Directions: Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth (add as little or as much ice as you want). Drink with your favorite coffee lover.

Hope you all have a great weekend and you enjoy sunshine, family time and relaxation. If you’re anything like my sister, you will find sleep and lots of it. And if you are anything like me, you’ll dream about sleeping, while being wide awake to your kids pulling you every which direction, saying to yourself “One day, one day I will sleep.” 😉
